Mud Slides at U of Idaho Delts during Recruitment Week
is a yearly activity and one of the most memorable |
Our recruitment process is year-around meaning that Delta Tau Delta could sign a pledge on any day of the year. There are three types of recruitment: Formal, Informal, and Summer Recruitment. These will be described below.
Informal Recruitment takes place at any time during the school year besides formal recruitment. There is no formal process and each individual fraternity acts on its own. Basically, men interested in joining a fraternity will be interacting with a Greek Chapter and if a mutual agreement is reached between the individual and fraternity to accept that individual into the brotherhood, he becomes a new pledge.
The rules and process for Summer Recruitment and Informal Recruitment are exactly the same except that Summer Recruitment takes place over the summer when school isn't in session.
Who do I contact? The current Recruitment Chair is Clark Pederson. His contact information is: (360)513-4993, clark_pederson@wsu.edu
What is a Pledge?A pledge is an individual who has signed with a fraternity, but hasn't initiated yet. Our fraternity has an eight-week pledge period, meaning that one will initiate into membership eight weeks after they have signed. All pledges live in the chapter house and are treated as any active member.
What are the costs?Living in Delta Tau Delta is generally slightly cheaper than residing in a residence hall. Monthly house bills are $585 plus a $250 social fee per semester.
What opportunities are there for leadership? There are a number of house positions that allow individuals to influence how the fraternity is run. From positions on the executive board, to committee heads and members, everyone has a chance to get involved. The fraternity also offers several week-long leadership academies over the summer through our national organization. These take place at several locations throughout the United States.
How time-consuming is a fraternity? What you get out of the fraternity is completely contingent on how much time you put in. Like any organization, you will be required to attend meetings and events. The fraternity will teach you to better manage your time for school, fraternity and social responsibilities. If you strive to get involved in as many things as the fraternity has to offer, you will grow amazingly as a fraternity man, and a man in general.
